Unlike many artists, I haven’t “always known” that I was creative, or good at art, or have always found myself doodling and drawing whenever I could. In fact, I dropped art as a subject in school because I thought the opposite. I thought art wasn’t for me and that I wasn’t good at it (I do tend to have very high expectations for myself so perhaps seeing that the drawings of 12 year-old me were no world-renowned artistic masterpieces put me off). I started painting during lockdown in 2020. One night, at 10pm, completely out of the blue, I suddenly felt drawn to order a set of brushes, acrylic paints and an A2 canvas. And so I did, and a couple of days later, my passion was born. I started then and haven’t stopped. And I was so surprised to see that I was actually good AND enjoyed it (that’s possible???).

For many people, when the subject of art comes up, the first thing they say is “I have no creative bone in my body” or “nooo I can’t paint”. And I always respond: “Try it. Try it again. You might be surprised!” Your first painting may not be a masterpiece, of course not. But the question is: will you enjoy it? Will you lose all sense of time while you do it? Will you fall in love and get addicted to it?

To carry this sentiment, and to encourage people to cross that hurdle, that fear of creativity, I have decided to run workshops. To facilitate you starting your relationship with art. Helping you open that window to something new. Any upcoming workshops will now be displayed below and available for booking. And, of course, if you need a bit of extra encouragement, you’re always welcome to contact me with any questions that might come up for you!
