About the artist

Franziska Meszar was born in 1997 in Burgdorf, Germany. At 2 years of age, she moved to Münster, Germany with her family where she went to school and spent her childhood and youth. Before starting university, she spent one year living in Berlin to work in a home for children with disabilities.

In 2016, she moved to the UK to do her undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Communication & Society at Nottingham Trent University and, following, her postgraduate degree in Social Psychology at Keele University. In 2020, she moved back to Nottingham where she is, since, based and freelances as an artist.

About the art

Franziska Meszar creates vibrant artworks capturing unique human beauty and realness. Many of her art pieces aim to tackle our body and face insecurities, whiles others capture the experience of mental health struggles. Coming from her own place of insecurities, she now likes to celebrate our unique human features through painting them. She wants to encourage people of all sizes, shapes and forms to see themselves as art, because they are. Franziska dedicates a lot of her time to mindfulness practices. The rocky journey of dealing with depressive periods and anxiety, while seeking a happy and healthy mind is evident in many of her paintings. Recently, she additionally started exploring the field of still life through which she aims to capture the beauty and magnificence in the ordinary.

Meszar works mainly with oil and acrylic paint on canvas, wooden panels, and MDF. Her artistic style is bold and colourful, exhibiting strong, textured brushstrokes to give her paintings a mesmerising depth.
